Wedding Favors, a Special Thank You for your Guests
Wedding Favors, a Special Thank You for your Guests
by: David Chandler
Wedding favors are as unique and varied as the couples whose marriage they commemorate. From shot glasses to chocolate roses, coasters to napkin holders, the bride to be has literally hundreds of ideas to choose from.
Wedding favors have been a part of traditional wedding ceremonies dating back to the 16th century. The newlywed couple presents a gift to their guests as gestures of gratitude for having attended their wedding and participating in the couple's new life together.
The wedding favor may vary according to culture, wealth, the interest of the couple, or can be centered on the theme of the wedding. The ideas for a wedding favor are limitless. A bottle of vintage wine with a personalized label is a nice wedding favor for those couples with a large budget, or a simply made personalized candle is a nice gift.
My parents showed me a unique wedding favor they received at my cousin's wedding. The bride and groom had taken the time to have the music at their ceremony recorded on compact disk, and the guests were all given one as a keepsake. All they needed to do to re-live that special day is to pop in the disk and press play.
Whether you choose to record a compact disk of your ceremony, or seed packets, or chocolate roses, your unique wedding favor will help those who love you remember your wedding day. A unique wedding favor is a special thank you gift that will bring warmth, love, and joy to your friends and family for years to come.

Are You A Stalking Victim?
Are You A Stalking Victim?
by: Sheri Gray
A stalker is someone that willfully, maliciously and repeatedly follows or harasses another (person) and makes a credible threat accompanied by the intent to place the victim in fear for their personal safety.
High-profile cases of celebrities being stalked by ex-lovers, out of control fans or paparazzi have raised the public's concern to this crime. However the majority of stalking victims are ordinary people, mostly women which are being pursued and threatened by someone with whom they have had a prior relationship.
Over one million women and 350,000 men are stalking victims each year, 1 in 12 women and 1 in 45 men will be a stalking victim during their lifetime. With these types of numbers we are hard pressed to control this growing crisis, statistics and research show that stalking cases are rising annually.
Stalking victims are in a state of constant fear 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. The ongoing nature of being a stalking victim can cause traumatic psychological damage to the victim.
If you feel that you are a victim of a stalker there are precautions to take to protect yourself, these tips are for someone who may find themselves in present danger from a stalker.
• Find a safe place such as a police station, well lit and well populated public areas, your home or family members home, or the local shelter.
• Contact law enforcement officials immediately or as soon as possible dial 911.
• If you need help, ask for it!
• Do not ignore the stalker; He/She will not go away. Be alert at all times.
• Do not confront the perpetrator. You do not want the situation to become violent.
• Keep you personal protection equipment readily available.
Once the situation has been contained, your safety has been secured there are other precautions that can be taken to remain safe.
• Always identify yourself as a stalking victim to the authorities, and request complete confidentially for any information given, reports taken under oath, and all legal documentation filed. Remember that all information given to the authorities can be used against you in the court of law.
• File a restraining order against the offender immediately.
• Get an unlisted telephone number. If possible keep you old phone line active, this will help avoid an escalation to personal contact. )
• Get a P.O. Box for legal purposes as any filings will be public record. This prevents someone from getting any additional personal information.
• Notify all family members, close friends, and co-workers about your situation. Alert them to be suspicious of people inquiring about your whereabouts or schedule.
• Keep documentation of all occurrences such as police reports or personal log.
Documentation can be photos, written entries, medical reports or answering
machine messages among other things.
• Be prepared, keep a small packed suitcase in your trunk, important telephone numbers on hand, and obtain a personal protection device.
• Consult a medical professional if you feel it is needed, being a victim of a stalker is an extremely stressful situation for anyone.
• Advanced home security practices should be considered. Install a security system and security lighting where needed, along with deadbolts on entry doors and security locks on the windows.
Stalking victims may not show the physical bruises of someone that is violently attacked; they are however mentally assaulted day after day. No one should have to live life under these conditions, live their life in constant fear. Take the first steps on the road to regaining peace of mind and your personal freedom.

Gemstone Jewelry Secrets Revealed
Gemstone Jewelry Secrets Revealed
by: Sam Serio
The mystery and magic of colored gemstones has been an integral aspect or the "Lore" of most cultures for many centuries. Here is what noted gemstone experts Antoinette L. Matlins and A.C. Bonanno have to say on the matter.
"The fascination with colored gemstones dates back to the very beginning of civilization. For our ancestors, the blue of sapphire produced visions of the heavens; the red of ruby was a reminder of the very essence of life. By Roman times, rings containing colored gems were prized symbols of power-and the most powerful wore rings on every joint of every finger!
Since ancient times, colored stones have been thought to possess innate magical powers and the ability to endow the wearer with certain attributes. According to legend, emeralds are good for the eyes; yellow stones cure jaundice; red stones stop the flow of blood. At one time it was believed that a ruby worn by a man indicated command, nobility, lordship, and vengeance; worn by a woman, however, it indicated pride, obstinacy, haughtiness. A blue sapphire worn by a man indicated wisdom, and high and magnanimous thoughts; on a woman, jealousy in love, politeness, and vigilance. The emerald signified for a man joyousness, transitory hope, and the decline of friendship; for woman, unfounded ambition, childish delight, and change.
Colored gems, because of the magical powers associated with them, achieved extensive use as talismans and amulets; as predictors of the future; as therapeutic aids; and as essential elements to many religious practices-pagan, Hebrew, and Christian."
Gemstones 101
Natural gemstones are found in nature. Laboratory-created stones, as the name implies, are made in the laboratory. These stones, which also are referred to as laboratory-grown, {name of manufacturer} - created, or synthetic, have essentially the same chemical, physical and visual properties as natural gemstones. Laboratory-created stones do not have the rarity of naturally colored stones and they are less expensive than naturally mined stones. By contrast, imitation stones look like natural stones in appearance only, and may be glass, plastic, or less costly stones. Laboratory-created and imitation stones should be clearly identified as such.
Gemstones may be measured by weight, size, or both. The basic unit for weighing gemstones is the carat, which is equal to one-fifth 91/5th) of a gram. Carats are divided into 100 units called points. For example, a half-carat gemstone would weigh .50 carats or 50 points. When gemstones are measured by dimensions, the size is expressed in millimeters (for example, 7x5 millimeters).
Gemstone treatments or enhancements refer to the way some gems are treated to improve their appearance or durability, or even change their color. Many gemstones are treated in some way. The effects of some treatments may lessen or change over time and some treated stones may require special care. Some enhancements also affect the value of a stone, when measured against a comparable untreated stone.
Jewelers should tell you whether the gemstone you’re considering has been treated when: the treatment is not permanent; the treated stone requires special care; or the treatment significantly affects the value of the gemstone.
Some common treatments that you may be told about and their effects include:
* Heating can lighten, darken or change the color of some gems, or improve a gemstone’s clarity.
* Irradiation can add more color to colored diamonds, certain other gemstones and pearls.
* Impregnating some gems with colorless oils, wax or resins makes a variety of imperfections less visible and can improve the gemstones' clarity and appearance.
* Fracture filling hides cracks or fractures in gems by injecting colorless plastic or glass into the cracks and improves the gemstones' appearance and durability.
* Diffusion treatment adds color to the surface of colorless gems; the center of the stone remains colorless.
* Dyeing adds color and improves color uniformity in some gemstones and pearls.
* Bleaching lightens and whitens dome gems, Including jade and pearls.
In this day and age, gemstones are generally worn for their natural beauty or as a fashion statement, but there are many that "buy-in" to the mythical and mystical symbolisms of gems as well. Whatever a persons reason, the world of gems today offers an almost endless choice. Many new gems have been discovered and are widely available in reds, blues, greens and many unusual shades as well. Enjoy!

What Are The Causes Of Yeast Infection In Women?
What Are The Causes Of Yeast Infection In Women?
by: Kathryn Whittaker
Some yeast can be found harmlessly inside our bodies but when they grow and multiply, they become a yeast infection. It is necessary to know the causes of yeast infection and how it affects you so that predominately preventive measures can be taken. There are mainly three things that can make you susceptible to yeast infections.
First, during pregnancy, your increased estrogen level causes your vagina to produce more glycogen, making it easy for yeast to grow there. Yeast infections are very common in pregnant women, especially during the second trimester. This type of yeast infection is hard to prevent, as the causes of yeast infection in pregnancy is natural. However, you can help by wearing loose fitting, cotton underwear, avoid taking baths and limit your intake of sugary food as yeast needs sugar to grow.
Second is by taking antibiotics. As stated earlier, there are many yeast organisms present in our bodies, which are not harmful. Bacteria also live inside our bodies, which is essential to our health and is usually harmless. The presence of yeast and bacteria inside our bodies should be maintained in balance with one another. Taking antibiotics might kill the bacteria, which allows the yeast to grow rapidly, thereby causing yeast infection. It is important to maintain the balance of yeast and good bacteria in our body so that we can prevent the growth of infections. Therefore, it is advisable to only take antibiotics when it is strictly necessary.
The third common cause is sexual intercourse. Semen is more alkaline than vaginal fluids. Which causes the production and growth of yeast. During sexual intercourse, some internal tissues can become irritated and inflamed, leaving them susceptible to infection. Some birth control devices that contain spermicide can also cause irritation. The use of prophylactics during intercourse can also increase irritation as they are usually coated in spermicide.
There are other factors that might affect your vaginal balance. Stress can be a contributing factor. If a person is stressed your immune system becomes compromised, which invites the growth of yeast. Staying clean is an important factor to fight the production of yeast inside our body. If someone has a high carbohydrate intake like alcohol and refined sugars, this creates the perfect environment for yeast growth. A diet high in sugary foods can lead to Diabetes, which in turn is another cause of yeast infection. Clothing is another source of irritation and can encourage forms of fungal growth. Non-ventilating clothing increases warmth and moisture, the ideal breeding ground for yeast to reproduce rapidly.

Brighten Up Dull & Tired Skin
Brighten Up Dull & Tired Skin
by: Danielle Sims
As we grow older and are constantly exposed to the UV rays of the sun our skin starts to appear dry and dull. This is the result of the outside layer of the skin getting excessive build up and is not exfoliated on a regular basis. Build-up is especially noticed after we have spent the summer in the sun. It’s more apparent to women since we realize that our make-up doesn't look as fresh and our foundation begins to fade within a couple of hours. Our make-up and foundation is actually being absorbed into the accumulated dead skin cells, which gives a very tired and unhealthy look to the skin.
To keep your skin vibrant and healthy on a regular basis, you must have a regimen that incorporates exfoliation and nourishing the skin. Your regular skin care program does not have to be a department store or drug store solution. You can prepare an all nature skin care program right from your kitchen table and manage to get the same results if not better results that your store bought product promises.
Exfoliation:
You should exfoliate at least 2-3 times per week (daily is even better) to keep the skin’s healthy glow. One solution for exfoliating the skin in an in expensive way is to use sugar. Yes, Sugar! Glycolic acid which is found in most AHA (alpha hydroxyl acid) products is from sugar cane. You can benefit from glycolic acid by using sugar for exfoliation.
Simply mix ½ to 1 teaspoon of sugar in with a small amount of your favorite skin cleanser. Wet your face and massage the cleanser/sugar mixture over your face for 1-2 minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water to remove this mixture and you will instantly feel a difference in your skin.
Nourish:
Give your skin a refreshing drink with a simple nourishing facial mask. The ingredients are powerful and can be found in your kitchen. Combine one or more main ingredient with a liquid ingredient for to make a wonderful facial mask. Base your ingredient choices on the health properties of each item.
Base Ingredient:
Honey – It is a humectant (which draws in moisture) and it has antibacterial qualities that also stimulates and smoothes the skin.
Mango - Provides natural fruit enzymes which also exfoliates the skin and the oil in mangos help moisturize.
Avocado - A naturally rich moisturizer has essential fats and oils.
Oatmeal – Moisturizing and slightly exfoliating
Liquid Ingredient:
Milk – Enzymes and Lactose acid to exfoliate and milk fat to condition the skin.
Aloe Vera Gel – Healing and softening.
Egg White – tightening and conditioning.
You will want to follow your treatments with your favorite hypoallergenic moisturizer. For best results, these treatments can be done 2-3 times a week to help keep your skin youthful and vibrant.
